EXPLOSION, FIRE NEW YORK, INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR PLANT

RESIDENTS NEARBY ARE ANGRY ABOUT THE MEDIA BLACKOUT FOLLOWING THIS EXPLOSION.

EYEWITNESSES SAY THE INITIAL EXPLOSION CREATED A 200 ft FIREBALL AND WONDER HOW A SIMPLE TRANSFORMER COULD HAVE CREATED SO LARGE AN EXPLOSION.

RAW VIDEO FOOTAGE.... THERE MUST BE VIDEO FROM THE FACILITY ITSELF....SOMEWHERE...RIGHT?

INDIAN POINT, A DOUBLE-REACTOR NUCLEAR PLANT SUFFERED AN EXPLOSION AND TWO FIRES...THE FIRST FIRE REIGNITING.

THERE ARE VIDEOS OUT OF OIL FLOATING ON THE HUDSON RIVER FOLLOWING THE EXPLOSION.

But the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission said that the fire had been quickly extinguished.
"These events happen occasionally, they are not unheard of and the plant responded as designed," an NRC spokesman, Eliot Brenner, said in a statement.
Entergy Corp, the company that operates the facility, also said the plant was stable and there was no danger to the public or to employees.
Several emergency calls earlier reported a loud noise at the plant, which is located on the east bank of the Hudson River, a New York State police spokesman said.
He said no injuries were reported."
THERE WAS A SECOND FIRE, WHICH 'OFFICIALS' SAY WAS SIMPLY THE FIRST FIRE REIGNITING.
THAT'S NOT VERY COMFORTING!
"Environmental officials are monitoring the Hudson River near the Indian Point nuclear power plant after a weekend transformer fire that spilled at least 15,000 gallons of oil into the river.
At a Sunday briefing, Cuomo said emergency crews were out on the water near Buchanan trying to contain and clean up the transformer fluid that leaked from Indian Point 3.

The transformer at the plant about 30 miles north of midtown Manhattan failed on Saturday evening, causing a fire that forced the automatic shutdown.
Cuomo revealed that even after the blaze on the non-nuclear side of the plant was quickly doused, the heat reignited the fire, but it was again extinguished.

Oil in the transformer seeped into a holding tank that did not have the capacity to contain all the fluid, which then entered river waters through a discharge drain."
YOU KNOW, I REALLY ONLY WROTE THIS POST BECAUSE I FORGOT TO WHEN IT HAPPENED.
IT WOULDN'T MATTER IF IT HAD MELTED MANHATTAN, JOHN Q. PUBLIC, FOR THE MOST PART, JUST WON'T GIVE A DAMN.
MOVE ALONG, MOVE ALONG, BACK TO SLEEP, SWEET SHEEP, ALL IS WELL.
